Should
I be concerned about lead in candle wicks?
Most
U.S. candle manufacturers stopped using wicks with lead or lead alloy over
30 years ago. If you are concerned whether the wick in a candle
contains lead, snip a piece of unburned wick, remove the wire core and rub
it across a sheet of paper. Lead wicks will write like a pencil,
while all cotton or safe zine core wicks will not.
Jar
Candle Safety
Our
jars are constructed to burn evenly, preventing the thick layer of wax
that forms around the outside of the jar like other candles. For
maximum usage, allow wax to burn at least 3-4 hours during each usage.
Handle
with care, as the container is fragile. Do not use if jar is
cracked, chipped or scratched.
Place
on protected, heat resistant, dry surface, well away from anything
flammable, and out of reach of children.
Do
not allow flame to directly touch side of glass container. Keeping
wicks trimmed and centered will help prevent this.
Sides
and bottom of container may become hot while candle is burning.
Please handle carefully.
Discontinue
use when 1/2" of wax remains. This will prevent possible heat
damage to the counter surface or the container itself.

Candle Tips
-
Keep lighted
candle(s) out of the reach of children.
-
NEVER leave a
burning candle unattended!!
-
Avoid burning
candles near combustible materials.
-
Store candles in a
cool, dark, dry place. They should be stored flat to prevent
warping.
-
Before a party,
light and extinguish the candles. They'll light more quickly and
easily later.
-
Don't put candles
in drafts to prevent rapid and uneven burning and excessive dripping
and smoking.
-
Keep wicks trimmed
to 1/4 inch. Long or crooked wicks cause uneven burning
and dripping.
-
Clean soiled
candles with a piece of nylon or use a touch of olive oil on a
soft cloth.
-
To remove wax from
washable fabrics, scrape off excess wax and run boiling water through
the material. Be Careful
-
Remove wax from
holders by placing the holder in the freezer for about 5 minutes,
then pop the wax out.
-
Candles
refrigerated before using will burn more slowly and evenly. Wrap in
foil or plastic before refrigeration to prevent wicks from absorbing
moisture.
-
Candles will fade
if left in the light for an extended period of time. Never put candles
in a window or directly exposed to bright outdoor light or indoor
spotlights.
-
Candles should
always be burned in an appropriate holder.
-
Extinguish candles
when they get within 2 inches of their holders or decorations.
-
When blowing out a
candle, hold your finger in front of the flame and blow at it. The air
will flow around the finger and extinguish the candle from both sides.
This will prevent hot wax from splattering. Or use a candle
snuffer for best results.
-
Keep votive wicks
centered and trimmed to 1/4" while burning to prevent breaking
the glass.
